Cathay Electronics is right in the thick of things on Narasingapuram Street, just off Mount Road. Our spot is G-2 in the H B Arcade. It’s really easy to find if you look for the Bata showroom next door. That area is always packed with people looking for gadgets and spare parts. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the street change over the years. The arcade itself is a bit of a maze if you haven't been before. We sell all sorts of electronic goods and components. It’s a small shop, so we have boxes stacked up to the ceiling sometimes. It gets pretty crowded inside when more than a few people are looking at things at once. We aren't a big chain store or a franchise. It's just us. We spend most of the day unpacking shipments or testing out stuff for customers who come in. The noise from Mount Road never really stops, so you get used to the constant honking and shouting. We don't have fancy displays or lighting; we just put the stuff out where people can see it. If we don't have something in stock, we usually know someone nearby who does, so we can help you find it. It’s a tight-knit community of shopkeepers around here. We open up late morning and stay until late evening when the street finally starts to quiet down a little bit. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we know how to do.
