Callidai Motor Works

Down here on Desika Road, things move at a certain pace. We are at No. 28, right in the heart of Mailapur. You can hear the temple bells if the wind is blowing the right way. Mostly, though, you just hear the sound of tools hitting metal. We handle a lot of motor parts and it’s messy work. My hands are rarely clean until I get home at night. The space isn’t very large, so we have to be careful where we put things so nobody trips. We’ve got stacks of old crates and some spare parts sitting in the back that we might use one day. Usually, someone is making noise with a grinder or a drill. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes. We have a small table where we keep the logbook and a few pens that barely work. The light isn't the best in the back corners, so we use some old lamps to see what we are doing. We’ve known the neighbors for years, so we often share a quick word across the street. It’s a good community to be part of. We don't bother with fancy signs or anything. People know where we are because we’ve been here so long. It’s just a regular workshop doing regular repairs every single day. We open up early and stay until the work is done. That’s just how it goes for us. There is always a motor waiting for attention.
