Brakes India Ltd - Chennai

Our site is out in Padi, right near the post office. Brakes India Ltd - Chennai is a large area and we have been operating here for quite a long time. Most of the people around Padi either work here or know someone who does. The day starts really early with the first shift coming in while it’s still dark. We deal with brake systems, so there is a lot of heavy machinery and the constant sound of metal being pressed. It gets very hot in the factory, especially during the summer months, but we have big fans everywhere to try and keep the air moving. There’s a lot of walking involved because the place is spread out across different sections. We have a canteen where everyone gathers for meals and it’s usually the loudest part of the day. The parking lot is always full of scooters and bikes. It’s not a quiet or clean job, but it’s what we do. We have certain ways of doing things that haven't changed much in years. Sometimes the supply trucks get stuck in the Chennai traffic and everything gets delayed, which causes a bit of a headache for the supervisors. We don't spend much time in fancy offices; most of us are out on the floor where the real work happens. It's a busy, noisy environment but we have a good rhythm going. It’s just how life is here at the Padi plant every day.
