We are up on the second floor of the SDV Arcade in Anna Nagar, which is a pretty decent spot once you get past the climb up the stairs. The office space is okay, but it gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of samples lying around. We handle various profiles, so there are always long bits of metal or plastic leaning against the walls in the hallway. The view from the window is just the busy second avenue, which is good for people-watching during the slow hours. We have a few desks pushed together and a computer that takes forever to boot up in the morning. Usually, someone brings in snacks to share around eleven, and we take a break from looking at blueprints and order forms. It’s not a corporate setup with cubicles; it’s more like a shared room where we shout questions at each other instead of sending emails. The air conditioner is a bit old and makes a rattling noise, but it keeps the humidity down. Customers come in now and then to look at the different shapes we can provide, and we just pull them out from the racks to show them. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking numbers to make sure the lengths are right. Most of the time, we’re just trying to keep the inventory straight and making sure the factory gets the right instructions for the day's run.
