Bharath Oil Company

Bharath Oil Company has been on V.N. Doss Road for quite some time now. Triplicane is a busy place, especially around the Mount Road side. Our shop isn't hard to find if you know the turnings. It’s a bit of an old building at number 25. There is always a bit of oil on the floor no matter how much we sweep it. It’s just the nature of what we do here. The barrels come in and they go out every day. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow road and the neighbors complain, but we try to move as fast as we can. My uncle used to run this place, and I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. We don't have fancy air conditioning or anything like that. Just a couple of old fans that make a lot of noise. It’s honest, greasy work. We deal with all different kinds of oils. People come in with their own plastic cans sometimes. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a small break for tea and some snacks. The paperwork is all piled up on the old wooden desk in the corner. We don’t use computers for everything because the old way of writing in books still works fine for us. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. It's not a big corporate setup. It’s just a regular shop where we try to stay busy and keep the accounts straight.
