You can find our shop at No. 9 Laxmipuram 2nd Street, just off New Avadi Road in Villivakkam. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a while, and most of our neighbors know us by now. We deal with clothes, mostly casual stuff that people wear every day. The shop isn't on a main highway, so it’s a bit quieter than the center of the city, which we like. We have a couple of racks and some shelves that we built ourselves. It’s not a designer boutique with fancy lights. We just use the regular tubelights and keep the door open for the breeze. Sometimes the local kids play cricket in the street outside, and we have to watch out for the ball when we step out. We spend our time checking the stitching and making sure the colors haven't faded. It’s just me and a helper most days. We handle everything from the cleaning to the sales ourselves. It gets busy during the festival times, and then we are usually here until late at night. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just sell clothes that we think are okay for the price and the season. It’s a small life, but it keeps us busy and we like the people around here. You can hear the trains passing by occasionally, but it’s home for our little business.
