Ayaz Tanning Company is located right on Woothucatton Street. If you know Periamet, you know it’s the place for this kind of work. We are at No- 58/1. It’s an old street and it gets quite crowded with trucks and carts moving things around. Tanning is what we do here every day. It’s a wet and heavy job, to be honest. We spend most of our time dealing with raw skins and the various chemicals needed to turn them into something useful. It’s not a quiet place. There is always the sound of water running or drums turning. The building itself has seen better days, but it serves its purpose for the tanning process. We don't have a fancy front office or anything like that. If you walk in, you’re basically walking right into the middle of the work. Sometimes the smell on Woothucatton Street is quite strong, but that's just the nature of the leather business in this part of town. We’ve been here for a good while now. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we all know each other well. We just try to do the work right and keep things moving. There’s always a lot of lifting and moving heavy bundles. By the time we close up for the day, everyone is pretty tired. It’s a straightforward life here. We take the skins, we process them, and they go out to whoever needs them. No fuss.
