You can find Car Guru over on 54th Street in Ashok Nagar. We are at No 20, right near the 9th Avenue corner. It is a decent spot, though parking on this street can be a real headache sometimes. If you walk inside, you’ll probably see a couple of us with grease on our hands or looking at a computer screen trying to figure out a part number. The shop isn’t huge, but we make it work with the space we have. We started this because we liked working on cars and it just turned into a daily routine. There is always a car taking up space in the bay and another one waiting outside. We don't have a fancy waiting room with a coffee machine or anything like that. People usually just stand around and chat while we take a look at their engines. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running constantly. We aren’t trying to be the biggest shop in Chennai. We just want to get through the day's list of repairs without too much trouble. Sometimes a bolt gets stuck or a delivery is late, and that’s just part of the job. Most of our regulars are folks from around the neighborhood who know us by name. We just tell it like it is when someone brings in a car that’s seen better days. It’s a simple life here, just fixing what is broken and moving on to the next one.
