Glacier Garments

Our place, Glacier Garments, is located on Jeevarathinam Street in Arumbakkam. It is number 7/4 C. We have been in this part of Chennai for some time. The street is usually narrow and gets crowded with bikes and people walking to the local market. Inside the building, there is always the sound of sewing machines running. We make clothes here. It is not a huge factory, just a decent sized space where we work. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit. We don't really do much advertising. People mostly find us by word of mouth or because they live in the Arumbakkam area. The street can be tricky to find if you aren't local. We handle various garment orders. Some are big and some are small. It depends on the week. The walls are painted a simple white, and we have stacks of cloth piled up everywhere. It’s a bit messy but that’s how we work. We've got some posters on the wall from years ago that we just never took down. We try to finish everything on time. Our neighbors are mostly families and a few other small businesses. We start early in the morning and close up when the sun goes down. It is a simple setup. Nothing too complicated. We just focus on the clothes and getting the stitches right for whoever needs them.
