Arraa Fabric

Down here on Covai Road in Karur, things move at a steady pace. Arraa Fabric is located at No. 268/2 in Sindhu Nagar, and if you walk by, you’ll probably hear the machines humming. We work with a lot of different materials. Some days the floor is covered in scraps and thread. It’s a dusty job but someone has to do it. The heat in Karur can be tough in the summer, so we keep the fans going all day. We’ve got a small team here. Most of us have been working with textiles since we were young. It’s just what people do in this part of town. We don’t have a big front office or a receptionist. If the door is open, you just walk in and find someone. We usually have rolls of cloth stacked up against the walls. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is. Moving heavy rolls around keeps us in shape. We take our tea breaks together under the shade when it gets too hot inside. Sometimes we run out of a specific color and have to wait a few days, which can be annoying. People know us in Sindhu Nagar because we’ve been here quite a while. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just make the fabric and get it sent out to whoever ordered it. That’s about it for us. The days go by fast when we’re busy working on the next batch.
