Our office is located at No 5 Wallace Gardern, right on 3rd Street in Nungambakkam. It’s a busy part of town, but our little corner is usually steady. We’ve got a few of us here working together on different projects. It gets loud sometimes when everyone is talking at once about a design or a structural problem. We have desks piled high with site surveys and local building codes. Nungambakkam has changed a lot since we started, but we are still in the same spot. We mostly handle local stuff, but we take on things from further out too if the work is interesting. There’s always someone running out to a site or coming back with mud on their shoes. We don’t really do the whole corporate image thing. Our space is lived-in and looks like a place where work actually happens. The coffee machine is probably the most used thing in the office besides the computers. We just show up every day, look at the plans, and try to make sure everything lines up like it should. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up, but that’s just part of it. If you walk down 3rd Street, you’ll see our sign. It’s nothing special to look at from the outside, but we get a lot done inside these walls. We have some old filing cabinets that have been with us from the beginning and they are completely stuffed with old projects. It's a bit of a maze sometimes, but it feels like home.
