Apsara Doors & Frames

You can find Apsara Doors & Frames over on Velachery Main Road. We are at New No. 32, though some old maps still say No. 20. We’re right near Gurunanak College, so there’s always a lot of students and traffic moving around outside Nagendra Nagar. The shop is full of wood and different types of frames leaning against the walls. It smells like sawdust most of the time, which I’ve gotten used to over the years. We aren’t a fancy showroom with bright lights and pushy salespeople. It’s mostly just us showing people what we have in stock and helping them pick something that fits their house. Doors are heavy and bulky, so there is a lot of dragging things around the floor. Sometimes the wood doesn't arrive on time, and we have to explain that to folks, which isn't always fun. We’ve been in Velachery for a long time now. The area has gotten so much more crowded, but we like being part of the neighborhood. A lot of our customers are just local families trying to fix up their homes. We don't do much advertising; we just keep the doors open and see who comes in. It’s a lot of physical labor and getting dusty, but it’s a living. We try to keep things simple and just do what we’re supposed to do. Sometimes we close a bit early if it’s a slow day, but usually, we’re here.
