Our place is out on Vanagaram Road in Ayanambakkam. It’s a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the main city area, but it’s where all the industrial action is. We are at Number 6. The road gets pretty dusty with all the construction and the big lorries passing by. Inside the gate, it’s a bit quieter. We have a decent-sized facility here where we handle a lot of the separation equipment work. It’s a practical setup. We have the office section in the front and the heavier work happens in the back. The staff here are mostly locals from around the Ayanambakkam or Ambattur area. We’ve got a routine that works for us. Start early before the sun gets too hot, have a longish break in the afternoon, and finish up by early evening. The canteen serves some basic food, mostly rice and sambar, which hits the spot. We don’t really have any decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and safety posters. It’s a straightforward environment. We focus on the engineering side of things. There’s usually a lot of noise from the shop floor, clanking metal and such, but you stop noticing it after a while. It’s just the sound of people working. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just do the technical work we know how to do and try to keep things organized.
