Anchor Export is located at No. 10, though the new number is 50, on Ponappa Chetty Street. If you’ve ever walked down Ponappa Chetty Street, you know it’s one of those narrow, busy places where everyone seems to be moving something. We fit right in there. Our office is a bit old-fashioned. We have high ceilings and those heavy wooden desks that have been around for decades. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll see people in suits. We are usually in our everyday clothes, moving boxes or talking to the laborers who help with the loading. The street outside is always full of cycles and carts, so getting things in and out takes a bit of planning. We don't have a big website or a marketing department. We just do our work and let the results speak for themselves. The walls are lined with folders and some old calendars. We spend a lot of time on the phone making sure the shipments are on time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and the street gets quiet for a second, but then it all starts up again. It’s a gritty, hardworking part of town, and we’ve been part of it for a long time. We just keep track of our exports and make sure the paperwork is sorted so there aren't any delays at the port. This is just our way of life on Ponappa Chetty Street.
