Amkar International is right here at 47 Perianna Maistry Street in the Periamet area. If you know Chennai, you know this part of town is always bustling with activity, especially with all the leather trade happening around us. The street is narrow and it can be a real headache to find parking most days. Our building is one of those old ones with thick walls. Inside, the rooms are filled with the smell of processed hides and the sound of people talking over the fans. We’ve got stacks of materials leaning against the walls and ledgers piled up on the desks. It isn't a quiet place. There is always someone coming in or leaving with a sample. We don't have a receptionist in a suit or anything like that. Usually, you just walk in and find someone at a desk who can help you out. We have been working out of this Periamet location for quite some time now. It’s a tight-knit community of businesses on this street. We see the same faces every morning at the local tea shop. The days are long and the work is often quite dusty and manual. We just try to get the orders sorted and sent out without too much fuss. It’s a simple operation at heart.
