Sunrise Go Eco - Friendly Go Jute

We are located on the first floor at No. 1 Old No. 73 Kannappan Street in Aminjikarai. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when we are carrying bundles of jute. The office is always full of the earthy smell of natural fibers. Sunrise Go Eco - Friendly Go Jute is a small team, and most of our space is taken up by rolls of fabric and finished bags. We don’t have much room for fancy decorations, so the walls are mostly covered with samples and calendars. During the monsoon, the rain hits the roof pretty hard, making it difficult to hear each other talk. We spend our mornings sorting through orders and making sure the stitching on everything is solid. Aminjikarai is a busy neighborhood, and the street outside is usually packed with bikes and pedestrians. Sometimes we have to shout down to the delivery drivers to find the entrance. It gets a little cramped when a new shipment arrives, and we have to shuffle desks around to make space. We usually eat lunch together at the big central table, talking about anything other than work for half an hour. It’s a grounded place to work, and we like being part of the local community. We don’t use much automation; a lot of what we do is still handled by hand, from cutting to packing.
