Global Elevators

Our place is on the first floor over on Avvaiyar Street in Gandhi Nagar. It’s a bit tricky to find because we are tucked away at the back of the Anjayper Hotel. People get lost coming here from the main Oragadam road all the time. The address says 'back side' twice because that's really where we are. The office is usually filled with random elevator parts and cables that we need for the jobs. It’s not the biggest space, but it works for what we do in Ambattur. You can hear the kitchen noise from the hotel sometimes during lunch hours. We spend a lot of time out at different buildings fixing lifts or checking on how they are running. When we are back here, it is mostly about sorting out the tools or answering the phone when it rings. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, which is ironic since we work on elevators. We’ve been at this address for a while now and the locals know us. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fan stays on the highest setting. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a practical spot for the crew to gather before heading out. Sometimes the traffic in Ambattur makes it hard to get the van out quickly. We just deal with it and try to keep things moving as we can every day.
