We are located at Number 15 Gandhi Street. We are quite close to Stedeford Hospital, so the area is always buzzing with people and vehicles. It’s a lively neighborhood to be in. Our shop is where we do all our turning and technical work. It’s not a massive space, and we have to be quite careful about how we arrange our machinery so there is enough room to move around. We deal with precision parts, so it requires a lot of concentration. You can’t really afford to be distracted when you’re working on a lathe. I took over the place from my uncle, and most of the guys working here have been around for years. We aren't a fancy technology firm with a glass front. It’s a practical workshop with tool racks on the walls and the smell of cutting oil in the air. We don't have a website or do any social media. Most of our work comes from people who know us or who walk in from Gandhi Street. We have a small radio that plays in the background, mostly just local news and music. It helps pass the time when we are doing repetitive tasks. Sometimes the street gets so loud we have to shout to hear each other, but we are used to it by now. At the end of the day, we sweep up the floor and lock the heavy shutters. It’s a modest way to make a living, but we take pride in it.
