Working at Isro Batteries means dealing with a lot of heavy lifting and grease. Our place is on Anna Salai, right in the Thanthai Periyar Nagar area. It’s a loud spot because the traffic never really stops on this road. We have batteries of all sizes lined up on the shelves, mostly for cars and bikes that break down nearby. Being in Alwarthirunagar, we get a lot of locals who know us by name. It gets hot in the shop during the summer, especially with the chargers running all day. I usually sit on a stool near the front at 51 A, watching the buses go by. We don't do much fancy advertising; people just see the sign and pull over when their engine won't start. There’s always a stack of old battery casings out back waiting to be picked up. My hands are usually stained with something, and there’s always a faint smell of acid in the air, but you get used to it after a week. It’s a straightforward job. We test the cells, fill the water, and make sure things are sparking right. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit, and we have to move everything onto the higher racks. It’s just how things go here. We open early because that’s when people realize their vehicle is dead. It’s a simple life on a busy street. We just stay focused on the work.
