Lawyers Xerox

Our shop is over on Alwarpet Street, and people often get confused because we have both a new number, 2, and an old number, 162. It’s just one of those things with the old buildings in Alwarpet. As the name suggests, we get a lot of lawyers coming in because the courts aren't too far off. There is always a constant hum from the photocopy machines and the smell of warm paper and ink in the air. We spend our days stapling files, binding books, and making sure the copies are clear enough for court. It’s a fast-paced environment when a trial is coming up and someone needs a hundred pages done in ten minutes. We don't have any fancy furniture, just a long counter and the big machines that take up most of the room. Sometimes the paper jams and we have to open everything up to find the tiny scrap that’s causing the trouble, which can be frustrating when there’s a line. We know many of the clerks and lawyers by name because they’ve been coming to us for years. It’s a small, busy shop where we don't have time for much else besides working the machines. If you need something copied or scanned, you just drop it off and wait a bit while we get through the pile. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s what we do here every day.
