About Akbar Hussain Akbari Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chennai
You can find me on the first floor of number 56 on Moore Street. This part of Parrys is always humming with noise, which is just how it is in this neighborhood. I’ve been working from this office for quite some time now. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned setup with high ceilings and tall windows that let in a lot of dust from the street. My desk is usually a mess of blue ink pens and measuring tapes. I spend a lot of my day talking to clients who want to fix up old houses or build something new on a small plot of land. Being in Parrys means everything is close by, but it also means it's incredibly crowded. I spend a good chunk of my time walking to the government offices nearby to file papers or check on approvals. It’s a lot of waiting around in hallways. When I’m back at the office, I’m usually trying to figure out how to fit everything a client wants into a space that’s way too small. I don't have any fancy software that does the work for me; it’s mostly just me and my drafting board. People know where to find me because I’ve been in this building for years. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning that works all the time, but it’s where the work happens. I keep a stack of old magazines for people to look at while they wait. The floorboards creak a bit when you walk in, but I don't mind the sound anymore. It’s just part of the day here on Moore Street.
