You will find Abid Osman & Co at number 5, Sam Mudali Street, right in the heart of Park Town. It’s one of those very narrow streets where it’s nearly impossible to park a car, so most people just walk or arrive on a scooter. The building we are in is quite old, and we’ve been here long enough that the creaks in the floorboards just sound like home to us. It’s a very busy spot, and the street outside is always filled with people carrying goods or shouting to each other. Inside the office, we keep things very simple and practical. There are a few old wooden desks and plenty of metal shelving for all our records. We don’t care for anything modern or flashy in here. It’s just a place where we sit and handle the daily grind. We usually keep the front windows open to get a bit of air moving, even if it brings in all the dust and noise from the street below. Our neighbors are all doing pretty much the same thing, so there’s a real sense of community in this alley. We often stop to chat with the other owners when we’re out grabbing a quick snack. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We know our customers by their first names. Most of our work is built on long conversations.
