You can find A. T. K. Khorakiwala & Co. at 21 Vaniar Street. It’s one of those older streets that can get pretty crowded. We’ve been here a long time. The building has some character, though it could probably use a coat of paint. We’re just a small group of people working here. It’s not a high-tech office. We still use a lot of paper and the old filing cabinets are full. The street outside is always lively. You hear the vendors and the cars all day long. We like the energy of the neighborhood. It feels like we are part of the local community. We don't have any big signs out front. People who need us usually know where we are. Inside, it’s a bit cramped with all the boxes and desks. We try to stay organized, but it’s a struggle sometimes. We don't have a receptionist or anything. If someone walks in, whoever is closest to the door helps them. It’s just a basic operation. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. We just show up and do our jobs. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful when you come up. It’s home for us, though. Most of us have been working together for years, so we’re more like a family than anything else. We usually share a meal together in the afternoon. It’s just how things go at Vaniar Street.
