A Ranganatham Chetty & Co is located right at No 115 on Audiappa Naicken Street. If you have ever been to Sowcarpet, you know exactly how crowded and busy it can get. It is a real maze of narrow streets and shops selling everything you could possibly imagine. Our place is tucked right into one of those busy lanes. It is an old part of town, so the building itself has been around for a very long time. We have a lot of history inside these walls, even if the paint is peeling a little bit here and there. Every morning, the street wakes up with a lot of shouting and the sound of carts being pushed over the uneven ground. Inside our shop, things are a bit quieter, but not by much. We have stacks of old ledgers and wooden furniture that has been here since long before I started. We do not go in for modern decorations or anything like that. We just handle our business the way it has always been handled. It gets very busy during the festival seasons, and sometimes it is hard to even walk down the street to get to our front door. We have known the neighbors for years, and we all just get along and do our thing. It is a simple life here in Sowcarpet. We open the doors, greet the regulars, and keep the accounts in order day after day.
