We are located at 236, which used to be known as Old No. 203, right on Linghi Chetty Street. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know it’s one of those old, narrow parts of the city where every building is packed with history and commerce. We’ve been here for a very long time, and the street hasn't changed all that much, though the traffic has definitely gotten worse. A. Ali Husein & Co is a family-run kind of place. We don't have a corporate structure or fancy titles. We just have a shop full of goods and a desk where we do our paperwork. The walls are high and the shelves are old, but they’ve held up well over the decades. Dealing with customers on Linghi Chetty Street is always interesting because you meet all kinds of people. Some are looking for hardware, others for specific materials. We don't spend money on big ads. Our name is on the board outside, and that’s usually enough for people to find us. We try to keep things simple and treat people fairly. It’s a bit dusty, and the ceiling fans have to work hard in the summer heat, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. This street has a rhythm to it, and we are just a small part of that daily pulse. We show up, we open the doors, and we take care of whatever comes our way.
