Tharayil Hardware

Tharayil Hardware is based out of Venmony, near the Kollakadavu Kodukulanji area. It is a quiet enough part of the world, though we stay pretty busy with all the local builders and people fixing up their houses. The shop is full of heavy stuff like tools, nails, and pipes. It is not the cleanest place in the world because hardware is just dusty by nature. We have got shelves stacked high with things people might need, and sometimes it takes a minute or two to find that one specific bolt someone is asking for. The floor is concrete and we have got grease stains in a few places, but it shows we are working. People in Venmony usually know us by name, and we know theirs too. It is a small community where word travels fast. We do not have a flashy storefront or big bright signs. It is just the name above the door and a lot of metal inside. Working here means getting your hands dirty and lifting heavy boxes all day long. Sometimes we have tea with the customers while they explain what they are trying to build. It is practical work. We are not trying to be the biggest hardware store in the state; we are just here for the people in Kollakadavu and the surrounding spots. Every morning we roll up the shutters and start again, whether it is raining or the sun is beating down on the dusty road outside.
