S R Industries

We are located at 195/3 on G S T Road in Urapakkam. If you’ve ever driven down this road, you know exactly how much traffic there is. Our building is right there in the middle of all that noise. S R Industries is a manufacturing spot, so it’s always got that smell of cut metal and machine oil hanging in the air. We’ve been here for quite some time now. The floor is usually covered in scrap metal and we have to sweep it out every evening. It’s loud and it’s sweaty work, especially during the summer months when the air doesn't move much. We make various industrial components. It isn't anything glamorous, just parts that go into bigger machines elsewhere. We have a small crew and most of us have been working together for years. We know each other’s habits and how the old machines like to run. Sometimes the material deliveries get stuck in the Urapakkam traffic, which throws our whole schedule off for the afternoon. We just deal with it and stay late if we have to. There isn't a lot of room for a front office, so we usually talk to customers right there near the machines. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just take the drawings, cut the metal, and make sure the holes are in the right place. It is a living and we take it one day at a time.
