Maya Pet Clinic

Maya Pet Clinic sits right on GST Road in Guduvancherry, just across from the E.B. office. Most days start with the sound of heavy traffic outside. It is a busy spot, so there is always a layer of dust on the windows that we have to wipe down. Inside, the place feels like a regular local spot. We have a few chairs for people to sit while they wait with their dogs or cats. Sometimes a bird comes in too. It gets a bit loud when a big dog decides it does not want to be here. We do not have fancy decorations or anything like that. The walls are plain, and the floor is tiled so it is easy to clean up after any accidents. Our routine is pretty much the same every morning. We open the shutters, check the supplies, and wait for the first person to walk through the door. Usually, it is someone from the neighborhood who knows us by name. We spend a lot of time talking about pet food or why a puppy is not eating right. It is not always organized perfectly, but we get the work done. In the afternoons, when the sun hits the front of the building, it gets quite warm inside. We turn the fans up and keep going. It is just how things are here in Guduvancherry. We see a lot of different people and their animals, and every day has its own set of small problems to solve.
