Our place is at Plot No. 7 on Subramaniya Siva Salai Industrial Estate, which is part of the Maraimalai Nagar area. It’s right off NH 7, so the location is practical for getting materials in and out without too much trouble. International Components India Ltd. sounds like a big name, but on the ground, we are just a group of people working in a standard industrial unit. The building is functional, painted a plain color, and surrounded by other similar factories. Inside, it’s all about the components we produce. We have rows of machines and a section for inspection where everything gets checked over before it goes out. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find plush carpets or air-conditioned lobbies. We focus on the production line and making sure the shifts run on time every day. Maraimalai Nagar is a hub for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the surrounding businesses and the noise of the area. There is a lot of back-and-forth with transport trucks every morning and evening. The staff usually eats lunch together in the small break area we have set up out of the way of the main machines. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and have seen the industrial estate grow up around us. It’s a busy environment, but we’ve got our own way of doing things that keeps the work moving steadily throughout the week. Sometimes the power cuts out, but we just wait it out.
