Dummis Masala

We are tucked away at 322 Budha Pandiyan Street in Maraimalai Nagar. It is a quiet local street where most of the neighbors know one another. Our whole business is focused on making masalas. If you are walking down our street, you can usually smell the spices in the air before you even see our shop door. It is a very strong scent, but we have grown to like it over the years. We have been located here for several years now. The shop itself is small and we have filled up every single corner with bags, jars, and containers. It might not look like the most organized place to an outsider, but we know exactly where every ingredient is kept. We spend our days grinding up spices, mixing them, and weighing out the portions. It is a lot of physical work, and by the end of the day, our clothes usually smell like cumin and hot chilies. We do not have a big marketing budget or a team of people to handle our image. It is just us doing what we have learned to do over time. Most of our customers are people who live nearby or small local eateries that need fresh spices for their kitchens. We do not use fancy words to describe what we do. It is just making good masala for people to use in their cooking. It is a simple life.
