Chettinad Hospital

We are situated on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Kelambakkam. Since this is the main IT corridor, the traffic outside is almost always a mess. The road is massive but it still gets backed up with cars and bikes every single day. Chettinad Hospital is a pretty large place. We have a lot of different rooms and it can be a bit of a maze if you aren't familiar with the layout. I still get turned around sometimes if I am in a hurry. The heat in Kelambakkam is really something else. We have to keep the fans on the highest setting just to stay comfortable. The sun hits the front windows in the late afternoon and it gets incredibly bright in the lobby. We have some potted plants scattered around but they don't seem to like the heat very much. People come to us from all over this part of Chennai. Some are locals from the nearby villages and others are folks working in the tech parks. It is an interesting mix of people. We stay open late because emergencies don't wait for anyone. The floor is made of that grey stone and it stays nice and cool under your shoes. We don't have any fancy decorations or art. We just have the beds and the tools we need to do the work. It involves a lot of walking back and forth. That is just our life here.
