Chettinad Hospital Research Institute

You can find us on the Vandalur Kelambakkam Road in Padur. It is part of the Chengalpet Taluk. That is a long name for a location, but we just call it the institute. It’s a large campus and there is always someone rushing somewhere with a clipboard. The road outside is very busy with trucks and people driving between the city and the coast. Our parking lot fills up almost immediately every morning. The air out here is a little better than in the middle of Chennai but it is still quite hot most of the year. We have a lot of different departments spread out across the building. I work in one of the smaller offices that looks out over the back parking area. It isn't much of a view but it is quiet. We spend most of our time on the computers or talking to people who come in for tests. Because of the research side, there is always some kind of study or project happening. It makes the whole place feel like it’s constantly moving. The floors are polished but they get scuffed up by the hundreds of people walking on them every day. We have some benches outside where people sit when they need a break from the cold air conditioning inside. We don't make big promises or anything. We just do the exams and the research and go home.
