If you head out toward Paltari Pathakpur Shiva in Chaubepur, you’ll find us. We are staying at Pradip Kumar Pal’s place, he’s the son of Subedar Pal. It’s a real rural setup, exactly where organic farming should happen. We are a producer company, which basically means a bunch of us farmers got together to make things easier for ourselves. It’s not always easy, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate or the prices for seeds go up. We grow things organically because that’s how it used to be done around here before everything got so complicated with chemicals. Our office is just a room with some chairs and a lot of registers. We spend a lot of time talking to each other about the crops and who needs help with their harvest. Chaubeypur is a good place for this kind of work because the land still has some life in it. We don't have a website with fancy photos. We just have the fields and the products we manage to grow. Sometimes we meet under the big tree to discuss the next season. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us fed and busy. Pradip keeps the records and we all pitch in where we can. It’s a group effort, really. We just want to keep farming the way our fathers did, but with a bit more organization so we don't get left behind. We don't need a lot of big machines, just some patience and good rain to keep the soil healthy.
