Vanwasi Education Foundation

We are located in a small place called Sakin Dadi in the Simariya district of Chatra. Our foundation, Vanwasi Education Foundation, is based at Hemraj Mahto’s house. It is a quiet area and mostly people here know each other by face. We deal with education because that is what seems most important for the families living around Simariya. There are a lot of kids who don't always get the right help with their studies, so we try to fill that gap. The roads out here aren't always the best, especially during the monsoon, but we make it work. We aren't some big city organization with lots of money. We just have a few rooms where we get things done. Most of the people who help us out are from the local villages nearby. We talk to the parents and try to show them why keeping kids in school matters. It’s hard work sometimes because people have their own troubles with farming or jobs. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just hear about us through word of mouth. If someone is looking for Hemraj’s place, they usually find us pretty quickly. We keep our doors open and try to be useful to the folks living in this part of Chatra. It’s just us doing what we can with the little we have. There are no big titles here, just people helping out.
