Our little office is located right in the middle of the New Sabji Mandi here in Charkhi Dadri. Being at Shop No-48 on the first floor means we hear everything going on in the market below. It is a busy spot, especially early in the mornings when the trucks are coming in and out. We spend most of our time dealing with infrastructure projects, which involves a lot of back-and-forth communication. The office is usually filled with the smell of tea and the sound of someone typing away. We don’t have fancy furniture or big signs, just a place to sit and get the paperwork sorted. Charkhi Dadri is a place where everyone knows everyone, so we get a lot of people just dropping by to ask questions about local work. The first floor gets a bit hot in the summer months, but we have a fan that keeps things moving. Most days are spent looking over plans or talking to suppliers on the phone. It is not a glamorous job, but infrastructure is something that needs to be done right. We have been in this shop for a good while now and we have seen the market change quite a bit over the years. We keep our files in old metal cabinets that have seen better days, but they do the job just fine. It is just us doing our part in the town and keeping things simple.
