Innocent Paws Foundation

Innocent Paws is located over at Brahma Nand’s place in Charkhi Dadri. It isn't a dedicated office building or anything fancy like that. It’s just a spot in the city where we can look after the animals that don't have anyone else. We grew up around these streets, so we’ve seen a lot of dogs and cats struggling. We decided to just start doing something about it ourselves. It gets pretty chaotic here sometimes with all the barking and the dust from the road. We don't have much of a staff, just a couple of us who take turns feeding and cleaning up. It’s hard work and it definitely isn't glamorous. We often have dirt on our clothes and we're always running out of old newspapers to line the crates. People in Charkhi Dadri know where we are, so they bring us strays they find. We try our best to help every one of them, though we don't always have enough space. It’s a constant struggle to keep things organized, and our records are usually just scribbled in a notebook. We don't have any big backers or a marketing plan. We just care about the animals and we do what we can with the little we have. It’s a messy, loud, and very real part of our lives every single day. We just keep going because someone has to do it.
