Khagorijan Tea Estate Llp is situated in the Charaideo area, specifically in Dakhin Sonari. You can find us at Tarachand Agarwalla’s place in Ward No. 3. This part of Sibsagar is famous for tea, so we are just one of many estates around here. Our history goes back a bit, but we don't make a big deal out of it. We have the usual rows of tea bushes and a small place where we process the leaves. The work is very seasonal. In the winter, things are slow and we mostly just maintain the land. When the rain starts, everything grows so fast we can hardly keep up. It’s a lot of manual labor. We employ people from the nearby villages who have been picking tea since they were kids. They know exactly which leaves to take. We don't use any fancy marketing slogans or have a glossy brochure. If you want to see what we do, you just walk through the estate. The smell of fresh tea is always in the air. Tarachand keeps an eye on the books and makes sure everyone gets paid on time. It is a straightforward business without many surprises. We sell our batches to the auctions and hope for a decent price. It’s a gamble every year with the weather, but that is just the tea life in Assam for you.
