About Acharya Institute Of Fine Arts – Art & Craft in Channapatna
Our place is in Devanahalli, specifically at Nazir Ahmad Chawl, number 8. It’s not a big corporate building, just a regular space where we do our art stuff. There are always brushes and paint pots sitting around, and sometimes the floor gets a few splashes on it. We don’t mind the mess much because that’s just how it goes when you’re working on something. The light comes in pretty well through the front windows in the morning. People from the neighborhood stop by, sometimes kids and sometimes older folks who just want to try something new with their hands. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but most people find us okay. We have a few wooden tables that have seen better days, but they are solid for sketching and painting. Nazir Ahmad Chawl is a lively spot, plenty of noise from the street and the neighbors, which keeps things from being too quiet. I’ve been running things here for a while now, and I’ve seen a lot of people come and go. We don't have a receptionist or anything, usually I’m the one answering the door if I’m not busy with a canvas. It’s a simple setup for people who like making things. We stay open late most nights because that’s when it feels most creative. It isn't a museum, just a workshop where everyone can feel at home while they work.
