Ghats Spices

Our small place is located at 2-5-15 on Km Road in Mudigere. It is a beautiful part of the country, but the rain can make work difficult during the monsoon months. Ghats Spices is basically just a room filled with the smell of the hills. We deal with whatever the local growers bring in, mostly things like pepper and cardamom that grow well around here. The building isn't much to look at, just a sturdy spot on Km Road where we can keep the stock dry. We spend our days sorting through the dried goods and getting them into bags. Sometimes the dampness gets into everything, and we have to be careful about how we store things. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the local area well. People stop by on their way through Mudigere, and we usually have a lot of crates stacked up near the entrance. The air always feels a bit heavy and fragrant. It is a simple life, mostly involving checking the quality of the spice lots and making sure the weights are correct. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. Word just gets around by itself. The road outside can get muddy, and the trucks sometimes have trouble getting up to our door, but we manage. It is just the way things are done in the Ghats. Most days we are just busy with the daily sorting.
