Abachur Coffee Estate

Our place at Abachur Coffee Estate is tucked away in Mudigere, right near Jogannanakere. If you follow the Railway Station Road, you’ll eventually run into us. It is a quiet area, mostly filled with the sound of the wind through the trees. My family has been looking after these coffee plants for a long time now. It’s not an easy life, but it’s what we know. We spend most of our mornings out in the fields checking the beans and making sure the soil is doing okay. The weather can be a bit unpredictable, which makes the harvest a gamble every year. We don't have a big staff, just a few local hands who have been with us for ages. The estate house is old and always needs some kind of repair, but it’s home. When the coffee is drying, the whole area smells amazing. It’s a lot of physical labor, picking and sorting by hand. We aren't trying to be some massive international brand. We just grow our coffee and sell it to whoever needs it. Sometimes the monkeys come down and cause a bit of trouble with the crops, which keeps us on our toes. The road to the station is getting more traffic lately, but back here on the estate, things move at a much slower pace. It’s just the way we like it. We focus on the land and the trees.
