Volunteers In Progress Foundation

You can find us over in Katol, specifically near the Neharu Bazar in Nagpur. Being right by the market means there is always something going on. We called ourselves Volunteers In Progress Foundation because that's exactly what we are. None of us started out knowing everything about running a foundation. We just lived here and wanted to do something for the people around us. In the mornings, the bazar gets really busy with people buying and selling, and we are right in the middle of that energy. We spend a lot of our time just talking to neighbors and seeing who needs a hand with what. It might be helping an elderly person with some paperwork or organizing a small clean-up. It's not glamorous work. Sometimes the office is a bit messy with flyers and old registers, but that’s how it goes when you’re busy. Nagpur is a big place, but Katol feels like its own little world. We like it that way. We don't use fancy titles or wear suits. Most of the time, we’re just in our regular clothes, drinking tea and planning the next small project. It’s about being there when someone asks for help. We’ve had some tough days where nothing seems to go right, but then a neighbor stops by and it reminds us why we stay open.
