About Vasu Bhasin Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
My office is set up right here at House Number 6174 in the Phase-III housing complex over in Manimajra. It’s a residential area, so it’s fairly peaceful most of the day, except when the school bus drops off the kids down the street. Working out of a house means the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. I don’t have a big corporate lobby or a secretary waiting at the door. It’s mostly just me surrounded by sketches, a couple of computer screens, and a lot of architectural books that have seen better days. The walls are covered in old projects and some sketches that never quite made it to the final stage. Manimajra is a decent place to be based out of because it feels lived-in and real. People around here know the house, and I often see neighbors while I’m heading out to a site visit. The desk is usually a bit of a disaster zone with pencils and scale rulers scattered about. I try to keep things organized, but when you're deep into a design, things just tend to pile up. It’s a simple setup, really. A good chair, plenty of light from the window, and enough space to think. I’ve been doing this for a long time from this same spot. It’s not a fancy studio, but it’s where the work gets done. Most days, it’s just the hum of the fan and the sound of drawing on the computer.
