About Shiv Kumar Rohilla Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
My office is on the ground floor of house 1287 over in Sector 44-B. It's a convenient spot because people don't have to climb any stairs to get to me. I've been doing this for quite some time now, mostly focusing on local buildings and small renovations. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a few tables, some computers, and a lot of rolled-up charts tucked into corners. I spend my mornings going through emails and then the rest of the day is usually taken up by drawing or visiting sites to see how things are going. It’s a lot of work for one person, but I manage to stay on top of things. Sometimes my family pops in since it's a residential area. The street outside is usually quiet enough, except when the school nearby lets out and things get a bit hectic for an hour. I like the routine of it. I start early, have my tea, and get to work on whatever the current project is. Architecture involves a lot of technical stuff that people don't see, like checking local regulations and making sure the measurements are exactly right. If I’m off by an inch, it causes big problems later, so I have to be very careful. I don’t use any fancy software that does everything for me; I still like to double-check things manually. It keeps me sharp. Most days are just about solving small problems.
