About Shikha Aggarwal Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
I work out of my place at House Number 3111 in Sector-21-D. It's a quiet neighborhood, which helps when I need to concentrate on sketches and technical drawings. Being an architect means a lot of alone time with a ruler and a pencil, at least at the start of a project. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know the local layout and how the buildings are situated pretty well. People usually just call me up or drop by when they have a specific project in mind. My desk is usually a mess of papers and old drafts that I haven't cleared away yet. I don't really have a big staff or a shiny office front with a receptionist. It’s just me doing the work from start to finish. Sometimes I have to go out to meet contractors or check on how a wall is being built to make sure it matches the plan. The weather here can make those site visits a bit of a chore in the heat of the summer, but you get used to it. I try to stay organized, though sometimes the paperwork piles up more than I’d like. It’s a small operation here. I handle everything from the first conversation to the final drawings. Most of my neighbors know what I do and sometimes they ask for advice. It’s nice working close to home, even if it feels like work never really ends.
