About Sharma Bharti Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
If you’re looking for my office, it’s at House No.1143B in Sector -41B. It’s a quiet residential area, which I find is better for the kind of work I do. Architecture takes a lot of quiet thought, especially when you’re trying to figure out how to fit everything a client wants into a small space. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and my workspace is definitely showing it. There are rolls of tracing paper in the corners and samples of tiles and wood scattered on the side tables. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s a working mess. I don’t have a big staff or a fancy lobby. It’s just me and sometimes a freelancer if a big project comes through. Most of my day is spent drawing or on the phone with builders. I spend a lot of time out at construction sites too, making sure the walls are going up in the right place. It’s dusty work, and I usually come back with mud on my shoes. I like the process of seeing a drawing turn into a real building that people can actually walk into. It's not always easy, and there are plenty of days where things don't go according to plan, but that's just part of the trade. I’ve lived in this city for years, so I know how the local rules work and what the climate does to different materials.
