About Sharma Anuj Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
My office is over at 3192 in Sector -37 D, and if you’ve been around this part of town, you probably know the area. It’s where I spend most of my time, either hunched over a drawing board or clicking away at the computer. Being an architect is a lot of paperwork and measuring things twice to make sure they don't go wrong later. I started this because I liked seeing things get built, and it’s still the best part of the job, even with all the headaches that come with planning and regulations. The space here is a bit cramped because I keep every blueprint from the last ten years just in case someone needs to see a detail again. I’ve got a couple of assistants who help out when things get frantic, which is pretty much every Tuesday for some reason. We aren't a big firm with a receptionist and fancy coffee. Usually, if the doorbell rings, I’m the one who gets up to open it. We talk to clients about their houses or shops and try to figure out a way to make their ideas actually stand up. It’s a lot of practical thinking. You have to know where the sun is going to be and how much weight a beam can hold. Most days involve a lot of phone calls to contractors and trying to find where I put my favorite pen. It’s a living, and it keeps me on my toes.
