Sagar Paint & Hardware Stores is located at 34 Sector 18 on the Gopipura Main Road. The smell of paint is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a strong, chemical scent that we’ve stopped noticing after being here so long. The shelves are packed with cans of all sizes, and there are brushes and tools hanging from every possible hook. We spend a lot of time mixing colors for people who come in with a specific idea in mind. The counter is wooden and has plenty of stains and scratches from years of cans being dragged across it. Sector 18 is a busy place, and being on the main road means there is always someone stopping by. We get a lot of dust from the street, so we are constantly wiping down the lids of the paint tins. Most of our days are spent helping people figure out what kind of bolt they need or how many liters of primer will cover their walls. It's a hands-on job and our fingernails are rarely clean. We have a small radio in the back that plays local stations, providing a bit of background noise while we work. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic when three people want their paint mixed at the same time, but we just take it one person at a time. It’s a good, honest way to spend the day in Gopipura.
