Down in Sector 32-D, you can find us on the second floor of S.C.O. No. 281. That’s where Safex Engg. Services runs from. It’s a typical commercial building, so there is always some noise from the street below and people moving up and down the stairs. Our office is mostly filled with old files, some drafting tools, and a couple of computers that have seen better days. We do engineering work, which basically means a lot of measuring, checking plans, and talking to contractors who are usually in a hurry. The space isn’t very big, so we end up bumping into each other’s chairs quite often. There is a small window that looks out over the parking area, which is where we usually look when we’re stuck on a calculation. We don’t really do the corporate thing with uniforms or strict meetings. Usually, we just shout across the room if something needs to be checked. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but the fan keeps things moving. Most of our clients are people we’ve known for years who just need someone to look at a technical problem or help with a project. It’s a simple operation and we like it that way. We just focus on the drawings and the site visits and try to get home before the traffic gets too bad in the evening. The local market area is loud but you get used to it.
