Sharma Engineering Works

Our workshop is at number 691 in Phase-II of the industrial area. It’s a place where there’s always the sound of machines running and metal hitting metal. We do engineering work, which basically means we fix things or make parts that people can't find anywhere else. The floor is usually a bit oily and there are metal shavings in the corners, no matter how much we sweep. We have a few old lathes and drills that have been with us for years. They still work better than some of the newer stuff we've seen. Most of the people who come here are from other factories nearby needing a quick repair or a specific tool made. We don't have an office with air conditioning; we just have a small desk in the corner for the ledger and the phone. It gets hot in the summer, but we keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze there is. We wear our grease-stained clothes and just get on with the jobs as they come in. There’s no fancy talk here. If something is broken, we look at it and see if it can be fixed. We’ve been in this industrial area for a long time, so we know most of the guys in the other units. It's just a regular engineering shop doing everyday work. We keep a pot of tea going for whoever stops by to talk about a job.
