About Neerja Babbar Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
I work out of my place at 5802, Duplex, in M.H.C. Mani Majra. It’s a residential area, so it’s much quieter than being in the city center. I’m Neerja Babbar and I handle all the architecture projects that come through here. My workspace is just a room in the duplex where I have my drawing board and computer set up. It’s nice because I don't have to commute and I can start working as soon as I finish my morning tea. Sometimes the cat walks across my drawings, but that's just how it is working from home. I’ve been doing this for years, mostly helping people with their home designs or small renovations. I don't have a big team or a receptionist. If the phone rings, I’m the one picking it up. It feels more personal this way. I like being able to sit down with someone and just talk through what they need without any corporate pressure. The neighborhood is friendly, and people often drop by just to chat about their house plans. My desk is usually a mess of pencils and erasers. I try to keep it tidy, but once I start working on a floor plan, everything goes out the window. It’s a comfortable way to work and I wouldn't really want it any other way. I have a small balcony where I go to think when a design gets complicated. It helps to see the trees.
